Password Protection

Clicking the button generates a URL containing the encryption key. No plaintext or keys are ever stored on the server.

How It Works

1.Write Your Private Note

Got something not meant for everyone? Write it here — only the person you share the link with can see it.

2.Encrypt & Share

Your note is encrypted with AES-256-GCM directly in your browser. Only the generated link contains the decryption key — the server never sees it.

3.Read & Destroy

The recipient opens the link, reads the note once, and it is permanently deleted from the server. No copies, no traces.

What You Can Share

Deliver one-time codes, Wi-Fi passwords, or recovery keys through an encrypted, self-destructing note.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Burn Note really secure?
Yes. Burn Note uses AES-256-GCM encryption, performed entirely in your browser. The encryption key exists only in the URL fragment (the part after #), which is never sent to the server. This is called zero-knowledge encryption — even we cannot read your notes.
Can the server read my notes?
No. The server only stores encrypted ciphertext. The decryption key is embedded in the URL fragment, which browsers do not include in HTTP requests. Without the key, the encrypted data is unreadable.
What happens after a note is read?
The note is deleted from the server as soon as it is opened. There are no backups and no recovery options, so a later visit finds nothing. It is designed for one reader: if two people open the same link at almost the same moment, both could receive it, so send the link only to the intended recipient.
Do I need to create an account?
No account or sign-up is required. Burn Note is completely free and anonymous. Just write your note, get a link, and share it.
Can I add a password for extra protection?
Yes. You can optionally set a password that the recipient must enter before the note is decrypted. The password adds an additional layer of encryption using PBKDF2 key derivation with 600,000 iterations.
