Burn Note is a burn-after-reading website: every note is a one-time secret. Once the recipient reads it, the note is permanently deleted from the server.
How it works in 3 steps

Use any app. Opening the link alone does not reveal or delete the note.

The note is shown once and deleted from the server right away.
Before you paste a secret
- No account and no recovery: if the note is lost, it is gone.
- Unread notes expire automatically, from read-once (7 days) up to 30 days.
- A destroyed page means the note was opened or expired — Burn Note cannot tell which.

One read, then gone
The recipient opens the link and clicks Open Note. The server returns the encrypted note and deletes it right away, so a later visit shows a destroyed page. Link previews in chat apps do not burn the note.
Burn Note is designed for a single reader. In the rare case that two people open the same link at almost the same moment, both could receive the note — so send the link only to the person who should read it.
Why the link is the key
The decryption key is part of the link, after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to servers, so Burn Note stores only data it cannot read.

- Can a note be recovered after it is read?
- No. There are no backups and no recovery option.
- Can I delete a note before it is read?
- Choose a short expiration when you create the note. Unread notes expire automatically at the end of that period.
